Bhangra wins over Samba, said the SMS in the morning to announce TATA’s acquisition of Corus. Who would have imagined that an Indian company will take over a British steel maker in a dramatic bidding process? 150 years after The Great Mutiny and 60 years after Independence, the wheel has turned in an ironic twist of destiny. The price has been stiff for this prize, as reflected by the sharp stock market reaction. But it marks a defining moment in the emergence of India from the shadows. Curiously just hours before this momentous event, Standard and Poor upgraded India’s credit rating to investment grade.  India has arrived on the world’s stage….not of cricket or cinema.
